To start off with I just want to say I do have a choice of other books to pick from to review from Blogging for Books. I was dabbling with the idea to try a book about hairstyle, but who am I kidding? I can barely put my hair into a messy bun. This is a book with intricate braids and buns, besides my fine hair would probably fall out of anything that wasn’t held up by tight hair bands and lacquer. So, I decided yet again to snag another cook book. At this point cook books should be all that is expected of me.
I was pretty excited to get Tasting Rome and check it out. I have to admit, so far this is by far the most aesthetically pleasing cookbook that I have received. It is creamed colored hardcover copy trimmed with metallic gold and the title in the same color; the picture is simply a type of breaded squash flower on a white plate. The back side of the boom is a lovely picture of the roofs of Rome.
The photos within the cookbook are stunning! Looking at these photos really can make your mouth water, especially the pizza section.
Good golly miss molly-the pizza! I love to experiment with pizza and I love thin crust so obviously my favorite section is on page 181. A recipe for Thin Crust Roman-Style Pizza and the topping options are on the next two pages after how to prepare the crust. This recipe is phenomenal and can bring a tear to the eye.
However, there are some recipes I won’t be trying such as, beef tongue, anchovies and oxtail. Um, no thanks!
My overall impression of this cookbook was very good. I would highly recommend to those adventurous types looking for something zesty or just a fantastic pizza recipe.
